Valencia continues to move in the market with caution and under strict financial control. To this date, their two signings have not exceeded one million euros in expenses: the arrival at no cost of Dani Raba and the loan of goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala for that amount. In contrast, the sales of Yarek and Mosquera —pending official confirmation— will bring in around 30 million clean in the bank, since they are academy players acquired at no cost.
Despite this margin of income, the sports management does not deviate from the plan: economic signings or loans without significant outlay. This is evident in the ongoing negotiation with Mallorca for Copete, where the initial offer was two million. The Balearic club is asking for double that amount, and the club now managed by Corberán is exploring alternatives to avoid reaching that figure.
The interest in reinforcing the attack with Pau Víctor was framed within this approach, but the operation has been ruled out.
No room for the signing
The forward from Sant Cugat was one of the players followed by Valencia to strengthen their attack. Despite his limited participation in the blaugrana first team, his profile was to the liking of the Valencia technical secretariat, which contacted Deco and his team to explore a loan. However, FC Barcelona's stance was clear from the start: they were looking for a permanent sale.
According to Radio Marca, the culé team demanded five million euros for the transfer of the forward, in addition to reserving 50% of any future sale. These conditions were beyond the reach —and the current policy— of Valencia, which from the beginning only considered a loan at no cost or with minimal investment, like the one made for Agirrezabala.
Pragmatism at Mestalla
The club environment insists that no operation will be conducted involving bonuses or transfers for players who do not arrive as free agents or on loan. The goal is to continue strengthening the squad without compromising financial stability, after the effort that was the miraculous end to the season with Corberán, who came close to qualifying for Europe after a tense start to the season.
Despite the limitations, the club maintains the intention of providing the coach with a competitive squad. But for that to happen, the conditions must be favorable. And those from Barça for Pau Víctor clearly were not.
