Real Sociedad has officially announced a surprising call-up: Take Kubo will not be available against Celta. The Japanese player, suffering from ankle discomfort since the break in September, has not overcome the sensations and is left out.
Sergio Francisco has called up 24 players and will have to make one cut before the match. Kubo's absence comes at a delicate moment for a team in need of goals and offensive solutions.
Real Sociedad will face the visit to Vigo without its most unbalancing winger. Real Sociedad confirmed that Kubo, despite having played minutes with Japan against Brazil, is not included in the squad: they do not want to risk his ankle. Also, Umar Sadiq is not traveling, ruled out by a tactical decision, leaving the team with only two natural forwards: Oyarzabal and Karrikaburu.
In terms of known absences, Orri Oskarsson has relapsed from his muscle injury, while Rupérez is still without medical clearance. On the positive side, Jon Martín and Aritz Elustondo return, the former having recovered from an ankle sprain, and the latter without rib discomfort. Additionally, Yangel Herrera remains in the squad and could play his first official minutes after being left out of the final list in the previous match.
The opponent, Celta de Vigo, will host the Basques at Balaídos, a scenario where the txuri-urdin will seek to rediscover their scoring touch. Meanwhile, the celestes will try to take advantage of Real's offensive slump; you can check their lineup here: Celta.
With 24 players called up, Sergio Francisco will have to make a last-minute cut and still has uncertainties to resolve, but the headline is clear: Kubo's absence conditions the offensive plan. Without Sadiq - whose role is diminishing-, the Nigerian forward is now at the back of the queue, and the weight of the attacking burden will fall on Oyarzabal and Karrikaburu, with possible support from second-line players.
Match Keys
Real needs precision in the final meters and to activate their full-backs without neglecting the defense. Elustondo's return brings leadership at the back, and Jon Martín's comeback adds legs to maintain the pace. If Yangel Herrera gets minutes, he can provide a presence in midfield and occasional runs from deeper positions.
What's Next
Pending the final cut, Real must adjust roles on the right flank without Kubo and make smart substitutions. The goal is to leave Balaídos with better feelings and points to alleviate the situation.
