Real Madrid switches on the radar to strengthen the right-back position
The white side's planning is once again looking to the right flank. After the departure of Dani Carvajal and with Trent Alexander-Arnold already in the squad, the club is studying several profiles to raise competition in a season of maximum demand.
Real Madrid C.F.
The list they are working with at the Santiago Bernabéu includes three main names: Pedro Porro, Denzel Dumfries and Iván Fresneda. For now, there is no deal closed or operation already in motion, but rather a market watch with alternatives that are very different from one another.
The case of Pedro Porro fits for immediate impact. The Tottenham full-back offers depth, a strong strike and a clear attacking trend, qualities that make him an attractive option if the Real Madrid decides to back a player who is already ready to compete from day one. His name had already been mentioned in the white side's circles and is now coming up again in a different scenario, with the club looking for more than just a single starter for the position.
The main obstacle would be financial. Tottenham is not used to letting its key players leave on easy terms, and Porro has a strong reputation in the Premier League. Sports Illustrated puts his market value at around the 40 million euros and notes that he is under contract with the Spurs until 2028.
Three profiles for the same need
Denzel Dumfries represents a different route. The Inter Milan winger is a full-back with a huge physical output, powerful in duels and able to get into the opposing area. He does not match the same creative mould as Alexander-Arnold or Porro, but he would bring range, strength and a presence that would be very useful in high-tempo matches.
Dumfries could be available during July for around 25 million euros, a figure that makes him an interesting alternative if the white club is looking for experience without having to take on a much higher investment.
The third option is Iván Fresneda, currently at Sporting Portugal. He is the youngest name on the list and the least established in the elite, although his profile points to a growth bet. He has a past in the Madrid youth system, knows Spanish football and comes off a season in which, according to Bola na Rede, he played 39 matches, scored a goal and provided two assists.
The same Portuguese outlet says that Sporting views Fresneda as a key piece and has no intention of making it easy for him to leave this window. His situation, therefore, would force Real Madrid to assess how much it is worth getting involved in a move for the future.
Other outlets such as Diario Madridista have also put other names on the radar, including Diogo Dalot, Vanderson and players from the academy. Even so, the trio that has been repeated the most in recent hours is the one made up of Porro, Dumfries and Fresneda, while Real Madrid observes, compares and weighs up costs before making a decision.
