The Sevilla are continuing to move quickly in the transfer market, but not every name being discussed has a clear path forward. One of the latest offers to reach Nervión is that of Antonio Raíllo, a player with experience, leadership and a clear desire to return to Andalusia after more than a decade away from home.

The relegation of Mallorca has changed many plans at Son Moix, and the Bermellón captain is looking at alternatives to keep competing at the top level. At 34 years old, the chance to get closer to his home region is especially appealing.

At the Sevilla, they value his profile. Raíllo would bring authority, knowledge of the division and a personality he has shown for years at Mallorca. However, the deal is conditioned by several major obstacles that make any progress difficult.

The main issue is the accumulation of centre-backs in the squad. After the arrival of Arouna Sangante, the club has numerous defenders under contract and needs to resolve several departures before considering new signings for that area of the pitch. Kike Salas, Castrín, Marcao, Nianzou, Gattoni and Cardoso are currently part of a defensive roster that already has too many players.

Sporting directorate staff are clear that several of those contracts should leave the club during the summer. The problem is that finding a destination for some of those players will not be easy. Between transfers, loans or possible contract terminations, the pending work remains considerable.

Sevilla continue to be very focused on balancing their books, and every move is measured in detail. In addition, Mallorca does not plan to let its captain leave for free. Raíllo renewed last January and still has a contract in force for one more season, meaning that any agreement would require financial compensation.

After ten seasons at Mallorca and a career that also includes spells at the Espanyol, Ponferradina, Córdoba and Betis Deportivo, Raíllo is considering an opportunity that would fit him personally. But for the return to Andalusia to become a reality, several matters in the offices at Nervión will have to be resolved first.
