Deportivo weighs two experienced signings for left-back

The Deportivo continue to monitor the market in search of a left-back and have focused on two players with extensive experience at the top level. Álex Moreno, currently at the Girona, and Ricardo Rodríguez, available after ending his contract with the Betis, are the main options being considered by the sporting directorate to reinforce a position that became vacant following Sergio Escudero's departure.

Moreno has one more year left on his contract with the Girona, so his arrival would have to go through a transfer. Talks between the parties have already taken place, and the profile of the former Aston Villa player is convincing at Riazor, although his high salary makes it difficult to complete a deal in which the Catalan club would be willing to negotiate to reduce its wage bill.

The 33-year-old full-back has come off a period of increased prominence at Girona after an uneven spell in England. After standing out at Aston Villa under Unai Emery, he lost momentum in the following seasons and went on loan at the Nottingham Forest before returning to LaLiga. Last season, he regained regular playing time, starting in most of the matches.

The other option is Ricardo Rodríguez, who comes with the advantage of being without a club after finishing his time at Betis. The Swiss international has just played at the World Cup, where he was a starter for his national team until elimination against Argentina, and he has built a long career at clubs such as Wolfsburg, Milan, PSV or Torino, in addition to his last two campaigns with the verdiblanco side.

Fernando Soriano continues to shape a squad that has already added Teun Gijselhart, Leo Román, Bright Ede and Lorenzo Amatucci, while the Dane Asp Jensen is also still among the targets. The club believes that, along with young talent, it needs to sign experienced players to return to Primera División with guarantees. In that scenario, Álex Moreno and Ricardo Rodríguez appear as two of the best-placed names to strengthen the left flank.
