Andrés García is very close to playing on loan at Getafe. The Aston Villa full-back will cover the departure of Juan Iglesias this season.

José Bordalás has practically resolved one of the positions that caused the most concern ahead of the new campaign. The Getafe are finalising the arrival of Andrés García, a right-back who will join on loan from the Aston Villa to strengthen a defence that needed more options.

Talks between the two clubs are well advanced and only some details remain to complete a loan that will last for one season. If everything goes according to plan, the player will join the blue-and-white camp in the coming days in Oliva.

The departure of Juan Iglesias to the Sevilla left Kiko Femenía as the only specialist at right-back. His physical problems during the previous campaign led Getafe to look for a new competitor for that position.

Andrés García, aged 23, joined the Aston Villa in the 2025 winter market after standing out at Levante. The English club invested seven million euros in his signing, although since then his involvement has been limited. In one and a half seasons, he played 18 matches under Unai Emery, a situation that has helped drive the search for minutes away from Birmingham.

The Aston Villa plan is for the Valencian to gain continuity in LaLiga and keep building experience before returning to the English club. At the Coliseum, he will have the chance to do so in a team that believes in his ability to establish himself among the elite.

As a curiosity, Andrés García's first official match for the Levante first team saw Getafe as the opponent. That debut came in the Copa del Rey in January 2023, a match that ended with a 3-2 win for the Granotas. Now, three years later, everything points to him defending the blue-and-white shirt.

And as a last-minute development, Valencia have shown an interest in Andrés García. After trying to sign Thomas Meunier, who ultimately, has refused to go to Valencia, they have turned their attention to Andrés García. It is a pointless move, because the Aston Villa defender is very close to leaving on loan for Getafe, forcing Valencia to look for another full-back at another club.
