Fede Viñas' new destination is now known
Fede Viñas will change his setting after his spell in Spanish football. The Uruguayan forward, who came from competing in LaLiga with the Real Oviedo, has an agreement in place to continue his career away from Spain; specifically, he is set to join the Mexican Toluca.
The transfer is set to be worth around $13 million. In the negotiations, the Mexican club has also reserved 20% of a future sale, a formula that could increase the financial return later on if the player moves again in the market.
A change of plans after his time at Oviedo
Viñas will sign for three seasons, with an option to extend the contract for a further year if certain sporting objectives are met. The move represents a turnaround from what the player himself had said weeks earlier, when he publicly stated his intention to keep competing in Spain.
His performance at the Real Oviedo had opened up several routes in the market. The nine goals he scored in LaLiga led the Asturian club to seriously consider extending the loan. They also enquired about his situation at Deportivo de La Coruña and Elche, while Celta de Vigo kept a close eye on his progress over the past few months.
The proposal that came from Mexico, both on the sporting and financial side, ultimately tipped the balance in favor of the Uruguayan international, who will return to Liga MX to take on a new chapter in his career.
Hope it goes great for you in the Mexican Toluca , Fede!
