A new striker emerges on Barcelona's radar

The blue-and-garnet offensive planning has entered a decisive phase after a busy week in the offices. The club completed three recent moves —the signings of Rodri and Cancelo, and the departure of Tommy Marqués— and now focuses its efforts on bringing in a '9'.

Hansi Flick has asked that pressure be kept on Julián Álvarez, as the calendar tightens. Barça kick off LaLiga this Sunday, although the transfer window will remain open until the end of the month. The arrival of Gil Marín in Madrid could help facilitate contact with the Argentine striker's camp in an attempt to unblock the situation.

Gyokeres appears as an alternative

Meanwhile, the club is preparing to activate other scenarios. In recent days, Lautaro Martínez, from Inter, and Luis Suárez, from Sporting Lisbon, had already emerged as options if the main route does not work out.

That list now includes Viktor Gyokeres. According to José Álvarez on El Chiringuito, Barça plans to make moves in the coming hours for the Arsenal forward. The information places the Swede as an alternative following Ferran's exit and suggests that his situation will be sounded out.

Gyokeres finished the 2025-26 season with 21 goals in all competitions for Arsenal. His scoring tally, even if impressive, did not clear up all doubts about his performance. The forward failed to repeat in London the impact he had had at Sporting Lisbon, and he went through spells in which he was not an undisputed starter, despite his signing being around 70 million.

Arsenal's interest in Julián Álvarez also reflects Arteta's doubts about the Swedish attacker. The English club met with the Argentine's refusal, who already knows the Premier League and wants to play for Barça. The player himself conveyed that to Simeone face to face, and this week is expected to bring new steps in that direction.
