Gavi is forced off injured, showing signs of pain in front of Elche

Alarm bells are ringing at the FC Barcelona. Gavi could not complete the first half of the match against Elche after feeling discomfort that forced him to request a substitution.

The incident happened around the 44th minute. The Andalusian midfielder finished down on the grass and quickly made it clear to the bench that he could not continue. His gestures of pain and concern immediately set off alarm bells.

The most striking development came afterward. Gavi did not stay on the bench after leaving the pitch; instead, he went straight to the dressing-room tunnel accompanied by one of the members of Barcelona's medical staff.

For now there is no official diagnosis and it has also not been confirmed which specific area caused the discomfort. We will have to wait for the first examinations by Barcelona's doctors and, if necessary, for any tests carried out later to determine the scope of the issue.

The situation is especially worrying given the player's recent injury history. Gavi returned to competition last March after being sidelined for more than five months following surgery on the internal meniscus of his right knee. In September 2025, he had to undergo an arthroscopy in which the meniscus was sutured.

In any case, for now there is no information that allows the discomfort he suffered against Elche to be linked to that injury, so we will have to be cautious until the medical report is released.
