Deportivo - Valencia

Match date: 30/08-19:30

Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña

Deportivo return to their stadium after drawing their first match at Riazor and drawing on their trip to La Rosaleda. The split with part of the fans means that home advantage is not as significant.

The team is obliged to show something more in attack, after a very flat style in the first two matchdays.

Aubameyang is currently the only attacking option for the team while they wait for Mella, Angeliño, Yeremay and the new signing Adama Traoré to find the right competitive rhythm; it is too early to see them in action in this fixture. Hidalgo will have to find a way to get this team firing. Soriano and Amatucci need to step up, especially the former. Villares is expected to join them in midfield to add more solidity, or Luismi if the aim is to generate more creativity. Nsongo should return to the starting XI for an Asp Jensen who has played two more than fairly underwhelming matches.

Valencia CF

Valencia CF face their first trip to the mythical Riazor in eight years with a clear objective: to take all three points. To do that, the Che side will need to step up in attack and, above all, improve their efficiency in turning the chances they are creating into goals.

The match, however, arrives clouded by doubts over the starting XI. Late injury to Guido Rodríguez, ruled out for Sunday’s game, is added to the absences of Rioja, Maffeo and Diakhaby in today’s training, leaving Carlos Corberán’s lineup up in the air.

The initial plan points again to a back five, with Arnau Martínez as the main new addition and expected to take a place in the XI. The return of Diakhaby and Maffeo will be key to finally defining the defensive shape and knowing who will complete the back line.

In midfield, Guido’s absence will force Pepelu to move forward and take on greater responsibilities in the middle of the park. Up front, Sato remains untouchable after his good start to the season, while everything points to Sadiq being his attacking partner.

THE LINEUP IS STILL PENDING UNTIL TOMORROW’S TRAINING TO ASSESS TODAY’S ABSENCES AND THEIR OPTIONS FOR SUNDAY.
