Diego Pablo Simeone appeared before the media ahead of the match against Sevilla, and much of the press conference was shaped by the situation of Julián Álvarez, as well as the physical condition of Cuti and the problems Atlético are facing in attack.

Atlético de Madrid

The situation of Julián Álvarez

The name of Julián Álvarez has dominated much of Simeone's appearance. The Argentine coach acknowledged that he hopes to have the striker back as soon as possible and return him to the role he has had within the team. Can the situation of Julián be turned around? "In life, everything can be reversed as long as we have our health." Simeone also made it clear that, once the attacker is able to train normally again, he will try to help him feel important within Atlético once more: "When he returns to training, I will do everything possible for him to feel as important as he has always been." The rojiblanco coach also stressed that the club has already communicated a clear position on the matter, and that his immediate concern is on the sporting front. "I hope, from a sporting point of view, to help him keep being the important player he continues to be for us."

Julián and Sorloth, their reference strikers

Asked which would be his ideal key striker within the squad, Simeone was very direct: "Julián Álvarez and Sorloth". A response that confirms the importance both attackers have in the coach's plans when they are available.

Offensive problems for Atlético

Simeone also admitted that the team arrives in attack with constraints. The absence of Alex, together with the situation of Julián Álvarez, considerably reduces the rojiblanco side's attacking options. "Alex's absence hurts us because he is absolutely crucial for us, and with Julián's situation it hits even harder." The coach believes the team will have to find solutions collectively: "The team, through collective effort, tries to provide solutions. We are going to improve collectively."

Cuti still needs time

Regarding Cuti, Simeone asked for patience and made it clear that Atlético does not intend to rush his return. "He needs his time to reach his best form; we won't speed up the timeline until he feels and we feel that he can perform." Therefore, his progress will continue to be gradual until the coaching staff and the player consider that he is ready to compete at the highest level.

Sevilla, next opponent

Simeone expects a demanding match against a Sevilla side that arrives with confidence and will have the support of its fans. "We see the characteristics of their coach and how they have started, and they will have a lot of energy in a stadium that always backs them." The rojiblanco coach, however, said he is satisfied with his squad's work during this start to the season: "The team is working well, it played two good matches, and we are focused on putting in a good performance."

Simeone happy after reaching 800 matches

The coach also had time to joke with the journalists after reaching 800 matches in charge of Atlético. "They forgot to congratulate me for the 800 matches! I'm fine, happy, where I want to be for the last 15 years, where they've given me everything." Simeone said he feels grateful to the club, the fans and his coaching staff, and he still has the same drive to keep competing at the helm of the rojiblanco side.
