Sevilla step up for Felix Correia and do not consider the transfer window closed

At 25 years old, Félix Correia would land in Nervión with experience built up across several European competitions. The forward signed last summer for Lille, which paid 7 million euros to Gil Vicente to secure his services, after a career that began at Sporting in Portugal and also included stints in the youth systems of Manchester City and Juventus.

The last season was a standout in France: he played 34 Ligue 1 matches, scoring four goals and providing five assists. He also featured in the Europa League, where he added two goals and two assists, along with minutes in the Coupe de France.

The move comes right after the Sevilla closed the deal overnight from Monday to Tuesday for the Belgian forward Lucas Stassin. Correia also comes from Ligue 1 and would leave Lille via a loan, in an operation that the Nervion side have pushed along quite a bit.

The Portuguese player has been a Portugal Under-19 international and has also had spells at clubs such as Marítimo, Parma and AZ Alkmaar. That path strengthens the profile of a player who, despite his age, has already competed in different settings of European football.

Sevilla are also looking at the defensive area

Planning is not necessarily finished. The attempt to sign Deivid Washington was ruled out due to legal issues in the deal, but the club is still keeping an eye on possible opportunities in the final hours of the window, especially to bolster its defensive profile.

In that search, the name of José María Giménez appeared, the Atletico centre-back, for whom Sevilla went as far as making enquiries. The deal, even with only part of his salary, would fall outside the club's financial bracket. Until the window closes, if there is salary availability, the club will try to bring in one more holding midfielder.
