Carlos Álvarez is very close to bringing his spell at Levante to an end in order to sign for the Club América of Mexico. The deal, pending the final details, would leave Levante's Orriols with a sum close to six million euros in fixed fees plus add-ons.

The agreement has taken shape after a night of negotiations marked by the time difference with Mexico. The Sevilla-born attacking midfielder would sign for three seasons with the Mexican club, currently the leader of the Aztec league.

The move for Carlos Álvarez comes in the final stretch of a particularly active transfer window for the Levante. The Granota club has already completed the departures of Carlos Espí to Real Madrid, Kervin Arriaga to AEK and Kareem Tunde to West Bromwich Albion, and now they are working to wrap up another major sale.

Club América's interest is nothing new. The Mexican side had already sounded out both the player and the Valencian club at the end of pre-season, although at the time they did not make a specific offer. The situation changed after last weekend's match against Betis, when they reactivated talks for the attacking midfielder and moved on to reach an initial agreement with the player on the financial side.

A deal conditioned by the contract

Carlos Álvarez has taken the first step, as happened last summer with the Benfica, while always keeping the position of going hand in hand with the club. His stance, according to the information published, is to accept the exit only if the agreement is beneficial for all parties. Otherwise, he would see out his contract with Levante until 30 June.

Talks began during yesterday's session and carried on throughout the night. There is willingness on both sides, and the final stage of the negotiations focuses on tying up the last loose ends of the deal.

Levante believes the profitability of the transfer is shaped by the player's contractual situation, with four months remaining for him to negotiate as a free agent with another club. Sevilla also enters the equation, having reserved a 30% of the economic rights of a future transfer when Carlos Álvarez left the Seville club.

The figure being handled by Cadena SER is around 6 million euros in fixed fees, plus some additional bonuses. Carlos Álvarez, for his part, would sign a major three-year contract with Club América.

The attacking midfielder joined Levante in the summer of 2023 from Sevilla Atlético, in a deal with no initial cost. That agreement included a 500,000-euro bonus for promotion to LaLiga, achieved with a historic goal in Burgos that has stayed in the memory of Levante supporters.
