The chance to see Rațiu in the Premier League collapsed in the final hours of the window. Fulham worked on an offer of 25 million euros, a figure equivalent to his release clause, but the Madrid club was not convinced by the idea of paying in installments.

At Rayo Vallecano, they chose to stick firmly to their position. Although the London club had progressed with both the franjirrojo side and the player's camp, none of the formulas put forward ended up unlocking the deal.

Fulham pushed right up to the end

The English interest had turned the case into one of the most closely followed moves of the last day of the window. Rațiu looked favorably on the prospect of competing in the Premier League and, during the day, showed a willingness to start a new chapter away from Vallecas.

The outcome was not what the player expected. After it was confirmed that the move would not go through, the full-back left the Rayo's training ground this Tuesday at around 20:45, visibly angry at the final block on the negotiations.

Fulham kept talks open during the last few hours and considered different routes to reach the 25 million euros set in the clause. The payment structure, however, was the sticking point that stopped the agreement.

So, despite the player's wishes and the strong interest from the English club, Rațiu will stay in Vallecas. The window closes with the Romanian full-back still a franjirrojo player and upset after an operation that was close to taking him to the Premier League.
