The Uruguayan centre-back, aged 27, signs until 2030, although his arrival is pending passing a medical check.
The official announcement came at around 22:00, after a prior post by the club in which the player’s name was already hinted at. The chosen nod was the arrival of a new regular from the Carné Celtista in Uruguay, the defender’s home country.

DFCáceres lands at the Celta after six and a half seasons at América. During that spell, he played more than 200 official matches and won three consecutive Liga MX titles, a Campeón de Campeones and the Campeones Cup.
From the Celeste’s ranks, they point out that the defender arrives at a time of competitive maturity and with experience in teams used to fighting for trophies. The club believes his profile can bring solidity and experience to Claudio Giráldez’s defence in a campaign featuring three competitions.
The Celta statement also highlights several of his defensive qualities. The club stresses his anticipation, his ability to protect wide spaces and his clean ball-carrying, arguments with which he established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Mexican league.
