The match started with an intense Barça, dominating possession, applying high pressure, and with Simeone’s team retreating close to their area, in addition to several dangerous attacks. But the first setback came almost immediately: Jules Koundé had to leave the pitch barely 12 minutes into the game.

The Frenchman went down after feeling discomfort during a play and quickly called for the medical services. After examination, the medical staff ordered the substitution. Koundé left visibly downcast, experiencing discomfort in the back of his right leg, with concerns over a possible muscle injury.

Already on the bench, the international sat in the second row, dejected, even covering his face for a few moments. In the coming hours, he is expected to undergo tests to determine the exact extent of the injury.

The injury forced Hansi Flick to adjust his lineup earlier than expected. The coach brought on Alejandro Balde, who entered the field with barely any warm-up, and this move pushed Joao Cancelo to switch sides to fill the right-back position.
