The name of Adama Traoré has gone from being a complicated prospect to becoming an increasingly close option to strengthen Deportivo. The Spanish winger, free after finishing his spell at West Ham, has moved talks forward with the La Coruna club, and the next few hours could prove decisive in sealing his arrival at Riazor.

Real Club Deportivo de A Coruña

The situation has advanced significantly over the past few hours. Deportivo would already have found the necessary financial fit to go ahead with the signing and is holding talks with the player and his representatives. After several weeks in which Adama's demands seemed to move him away from A Coruña, there is optimism at Riazor about how the deal will end.

The club newly promoted to LaLiga EA Sports continues to look to expand its options on the wings after a summer in which it has already made major moves, with signings such as Leo Román, Angeliño or Aubameyang. Bringing in a right winger was one of Fernando Soriano's priorities, and Adama has now firmly placed himself at the top of the list.

The Deportivo had been keeping an eye on the situation of the Spanish international for several weeks. Initially, the player's desire to continue his career in England and, especially, the high financial terms of the deal made reaching an agreement considerably more difficult.

Adama and Deportivo move closer

That scenario has changed. According to the latest information coming out of A Coruña, Deportivo is already negotiating with Adama Traoré and his agent and has managed to find a financial solution to try to complete the signing. Both sides would have made efforts to bring their positions closer, and the agreement is now much closer than it was just a few days ago.

The market journalist Matteo Moretto talks about a scenario of "moderate optimism" at Riazor, while outlets such as Cadena SER and AS also point to the fact that Deportivo believes it can close the signing soon.

Adama would also arrive as a free agent, meaning Deportivo would not have to pay a transfer fee. The club's main effort would be focused on the player's wages, an aspect that has precisely been the biggest obstacle during the talks.

Adama's arrival could shape the end of the transfer window

The possible signing of the former Barcelona, Wolves, Fulham and West Ham player would represent a major move within Deportivo's wage limit. For that reason, his deal could significantly reduce the room available to bring in the left-sided centre-back that the sporting directorate is also targeting before the window closes.

In any case, the Dépor keeps alternatives open in case the negotiations take a late turn. One of them is Gabri Martínez, a winger at Sporting de Braga, although at the moment Adama Traoré is the priority option and the one that is most advanced.

After weeks of talks, the outcome now looks increasingly close. Adama Traoré had never been so close to Deportivo, although there is still one final step to go: the definitive agreement and the subsequent official announcement from the Galician club.
