Betis hope to make a move to register Ceballos

The midfielder, who arrived in January from América, has not played a minute in the first three league matchdays. His sporting situation has opened the door to a possible exit before the deadline.

Betis' sporting directorate is working these days with several scenarios on the table, and one of them directly affects Álvaro Fidalgo. The player n has not been part of Manuel Pellegrini's plans at the start of LaLiga and the club is considering an operation that frees up space for the arrival of Dani Ceballos and the pivot requested by the Chilean coach.

From the player's camp, they urged caution in pointing out that, for their part, nothing has been agreed for the moment. Even so, the club is moving to explore an exit in these last hours of the window. The formula is still not defined: the transfer would fit the player's age, although a loan is also not ruled out.

The Fidalgo case gains weight after weeks earlier the club tried to place Nelson Deossa. The Colombian rejected the offers he had and his situation is still being reviewed in this final stretch, although for the first time it is admitted that the Asturian could also leave Heliópolis. In the meantime, the midfielder trained this morning with the group and was one of the last to leave the training ground, where members of the sporting directorate were meeting, with Manu Fajardo and Álvaro Ladrón de Guevara in charge.

A January signing with limited impact

Fidalgo landed at Betis in the closing stages of the winter market in exchange for 1.5 million euros and signed until 2030. The deal was wrapped up at a time when the club was looking for a striker and trying to find a way out for Bakambu, but injuries to Isco and Lo Celso changed the technical staff's priorities.

Back then, it was understood as a market opportunity: a Spanish player, with options to be included in Mexico's squad for the World Cup, and available for a reduced fee. Betis moved early on an operation that initially could have come as a free agent in the summer and closed it with América, where Fidalgo had an important role among the fans.

At the start of this season, Fidalgo and Losada are the only first-team players with squad numbers who have not played minutes in the first three matchdays. During pre-season, he only featured for 45 minutes against Bournemouth, as he joined later after playing the World Cup and carried some knee discomfort that has since been overcome.

Last campaign he played 13 matches and scored once, precisely in the derby played at La Cartuja. Now, the accumulation of options in midfield — seven players for three roles — and the intention to bring in Ceballos and a pivot place his future among the matters the club must resolve before the transfer window closes.
