Aarón Martín, new signing for Racing: experience for the left-back spot

The verdiblanco side has completed the signing of Aarón Martín, a player who arrives from the Italian Génova and becomes a new piece in the squad of José Alberto ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The arrival of the defender responds to one of the needs the sporting directorate led by Chema Aragón, had, especially after the departure of Mario García and with uncertainty surrounding Jorge Salinas.

Who is Aarón Martín?

Aarón Martín Caricol was born in Montmeló (Barcelona) on 22 April 1997, meaning he is 29 years old. He developed through the youth ranks of the Espanyol and it was precisely with the perico club that he made the jump to professional football.

After establishing himself in Spain, the full-back embarked on an adventure abroad. In 2018 he signed for the German Mainz 05, where he spent much of his career before returning temporarily to Spain to play on loan at the Celta of Vigo.

In 2023 he began his spell in Italy with Génova, a club with which he has played 91 matches in the Serie A and six cup games. He was also capped at youth level for the Spanish national team, reaching the Under-21 level.

What can he bring to Racing?

Aarón Martín is a left-back with experience and a profile that could fit perfectly with Racing's needs.

One of his main arguments is his ability to get forward into the attack. He is not limited to defending his flank; he can also provide depth, crosses and a presence in the opposition's half.

In his last season in Italian football, he played 35 matches between Serie A and the Cup, accumulating more than 2,300 minutes and also recording a good number of assists.

His experience in different styles of football could also be important for a Racing that is preparing for its return to the top flight.

Is Aarón Martín interesting for Fantasy?

His arrival could be especially interesting for Fantasy players.

At first, Aarón Martín has strong options to become one of Racing's regular full-backs, although he will need to adapt quickly to José Alberto's system and compete for the spot.
His attacking profile could make him valuable in scoring systems that reward attacking actions, assists, crosses or involvement in the opposition's half.

In addition, his experience in major European leagues is a plus. This is not a player arriving without experience at the elite level, but someone who has built up a significant international career.
So we will have to keep a close eye on his price and his early performances before deciding whether he becomes a recommended option for our Fantasy teams.

With Aarón Martín, the Racing brings in a 29-year-old player with experience in Spain, Germany and Italy, and used to competing at the highest level.

Now it will be José Alberto who has to find the best way to integrate him into the team. If he manages to get back to his best version, the Racing may have found, at left-back, a reliable solution for a position that needed reinforcements.
