The Real Madrid, as happens every season, is already working on planning for the next one. There are several names on the table- such as Courtuois or Bellingham- and it is expected that the negotiations will be concluded successfully without too many setbacks. The same is true for Arda Güler, with whom the club is especially pleased with what he has shown since the end of the previous campaign and the start of this one. His role, residual in many moments with Ancelotti and Arbeloa and with more prominence with Xabi Alonso in charge, has been growing since he arrived in 2023 from Ottoman football. Today, it is not only that he is a regular for Mourinho, but he is also one of the most in-form players and one who contributes the most to the team with and without the ball.

Standout pre-season and start, with doubts dispelled

Over these three years, countless criticisms and doubts have been hovering over him, even calling into question the bet the white club made on him at the time, when it spent around 30 million euros. But the truth is that he is starting to look and turn out to be a bargain if we take into account his contribution on the pitch and that his estimated market value- according to Transfermarkt- is 90 million euros.  At the club they are clear: he deserves a pay rise and an improvement in his salary, which will come hand in hand with the new contractual deal.

In addition, several Premier League clubs- such as Arsenal or Manchester United- have kept a close eye on the situation of the Turk and were ready to make a major outlay to convince him to change clubs, and although in football you never know, this new contract rules out any possibility that he could leave in the next or the coming transfer windows. 

Versatility and class

Since he landed in the Spanish capital, Güler has filled in as an attacking midfielder, a pivot, an attacking midfielder and even a right winger. For Mourinho, his greatest potential is close to the box. However, the coach himself has said that he believes something similar will happen to him as what happened to Modric or Bernardo Silva, and that he will end up as a "6" or as an "8".  He could be decisive in any attacking area and in the creation of play on the pitch. At Real Madrid they know this, and that is why they have got to work.
