Joan Garcia already knows the extent of his injury: this is how long he will be out

The setback forces Hansi Flick to adjust his plans immediately. Joan Garcia will not be available this Saturday at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan against Sevilla, and the outlook suggests he could return after the next international break.

The medical services of the Barcelona have ruled out a surgical procedure. The injury also affects a different knee than the one that caused the goalkeeper problems during last season.

With his absence, Wojciech Szczesny and Dominik Livakovic appear as Flick's two options to take charge in goal against the Sevilla side. The coach already had to turn to the Pole against Racing, when Joan Garcia could not continue after the break. Szczesny came on in his place and later made a mistake that led to the second goal for the Cantabrian team.

Livakovic represents the other alternative. The Croatian goalkeeper joined the club during the summer transfer window and has still not made his debut for the blaugrana team.

The physical problem appeared in the final minutes of the first half of the match. Joan Garcia went to chase a ball and slipped in the area behind the goal, which was soaked by the rain falling in Barcelona.

Although he managed to stay on his feet, the Sallent goalkeeper felt discomfort in his knee. Flick then decided not to take any risks and made the change during the break.

After the match, the German coach admitted there was a knee issue and believed he could recover the goalkeeper for the trip to Sevilla. Tests carried out this Thursday have ended up confirming a meniscus injury and an estimated spell on the sidelines of around three weeks.
