Fantasy alert with Pape Gueye who could move to Everton!

The potential transfer of Pape Gueye has entered an advanced stage. According to information published by TEAMtalk, the player would already have an agreement with Everton to join the English club this summer, although an understanding between the clubs would still be pending.

The negotiations would move around a figure close to 28 million euros in fixed fees, with another five million in add-ons. Those bonuses would be linked mainly to Everton qualifying for the Champions League and to other economic concepts included in the deal.

For the Villarreal, the exit of the Senegalese international has been on the table for some time. The Yellow Submarine needs to make at least one major sale to create room in the market, a situation that Roig Negueroles has already acknowledged, and Gueye has been one of the most high-profile names for months.

Interest in the midfielder is not new. In the last winter transfer window, he was close to leaving La Ceramica for Galatasaray, to the point that in Turkey the deal was considered done. In the end, the player chose to stay in Castellon to finish the season and play the World Cup with Senegal.

After that episode, the Premier League gained momentum as a destination. Several English clubs kept a close eye on his progress during the second half of the campaign, with the idea that his physicality, his running, and his experience in LaLiga fit well with the British competition.

The Gueye himself spoke months ago about that possibility without closing the door to a move. "For now, I'm very happy at Villarreal. I've put together a good season. There were some offers this winter, but we'll see what happens after the World Cup", he said in early 2026.

He also made clear his confidence in adapting to English football: "I see the game of the midfielders, their impact on the match, the intensity… And when I watch them, I tell myself that I'm more than enough to play in the Premier League".

The player, 27 years old, is under contract with Villarreal until June 2028. That commitment gave the club room to demand a high fee, although the figures being discussed now from England would be below the initial expectations.

During the winter, the Castellon-based club rejected offers of more than 40 million euros from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. The idea at the time was that the Senegalese player's performance could still increase his market value.

His season reinforced that perception. Gueye was named LaLiga's best African player after playing 30 league matches, scoring five goals, and providing two assists. That campaign was later followed by his showing with Senegal at the World Cup.

The deal would have a significant financial impact for Villarreal, since the midfielder arrived on a free transfer in 2024 from Olympique de Marseille. That income would allow the sporting directorate to tackle the pending signings for Iñigo Pérez's squad with more room, ahead of the return to the Champions League.
