Red alert in LaLiga!
The Spanish competition leads the way in sendings-off among Europe's big leagues, with Deportivo, Getafe, Real Sociedad and Sevilla as the most punished teams.
LaLiga turns red. The Spanish championship has racked up 23 sendings-off in the first eight matchdays of the 2026/27 season, nearly three per round and a figure far higher than what has been recorded so far in the other major European leagues. Discipline has become a headache for some coaches, and also for fantasy managers, who see how a single card can throw their lineups off from one week to the next.
LaLiga well ahead of the other big European leagues
Spain tops this sendings-off ranking by a wide margin. The Premier League and Ligue 1 have nine each, while the Bundesliga has six and Serie A has five.

Data from the 2026/27 season, checked on October 16. Each square represents approximately two sendings-offs. The leagues have not played the same number of matchdays, so the absolute figures do not equate to a comparison of sendings-off per match.
Which LaLiga teams have received the most red cards?
Deportivo, Getafe, Real Sociedad and Sevilla lead the disciplinary table, with three sendings-off apiece. Between them, the four teams account for 12 of LaLiga's 23 reds, that is, more than half. In total, 13 of the 20 teams in LaLiga have suffered at least one sending-off.
| 3 | Deportivo, Getafe, Real Sociedad and Sevilla | 4 |
| 2 | Real Madrid and Rayo Vallecano | 2 |
| 1 | Alavés, Athletic Club, Atlético de Madrid, Celta, Elche, Espanyol and Racing de Santander | 7 |
| 0 | Barcelona, Betis, Levante, Málaga, Osasuna, Valencia and Villarreal | 7 |
Two standout cases: Deportivo and Real Sociedad
The Deportivo de La Coruña has started its return to the top flight with three players sent off: Adrià Altimira, Angeliño and Lorenzo Amatucci. To put it in perspective, the Galician side recorded just two sendings-offs across the entire previous Segunda División season, played over 42 matchdays.
The case of the Real Sociedad is even more curious: the San Sebastián club has suffered three sendings-offs, against Elche, Valencia and Deportivo, but managed to win all three matches with the same scoreline: 2-3, 2-3 and 3-2, respectively. A show of resilience that, however, does not prevent subsequent bans.
The fantasy impact is already being felt in matchday 9
Red cards do not only reduce the minutes available to score points: they can also lead to negative ratings and leave players out of the following matchdays. For matchday 9, there are several important absences for disciplinary reasons:
| Vinícius Júnior | Real Madrid | Banned |
| Ángel Pérez | Alavés | Banned |
| Lorenzo Amatucci | Deportivo | Banned |
| Pablo Marín | Real Sociedad | Banned |
| Isaac Romero | Sevilla | Banned |
Also, it is worth keeping an eye on players at risk of suspension due to accumulation of yellow cards, including Yoel Lago, Clemens Riedel, Johan Mojica, Yassir Zabiri, Pathé Ciss, Ibraima Konaté and Yangel Herrera, all of them on four bookings. Another card would, in general terms, mean serving the cycle and missing the next league fixture.
Comuniate tip: check the bans before finalizing your XI and try to have alternatives on the bench. In fantasy, a red card can cost you points in the match, and it can also leave you without one of your starters in the next matchday. Watch out for sendings-off!
